See This CPA’s Determination to Pass the Exam

Earlier this week, we had the pleasure of meeting the owner of Noir CPA. It’s a website that helps CPA candidates take and pass the CPA exam. Specifically, the idea behind the website is to encourage people who are disadvantaged and show them that anyone can become a certified public accountant as long as they put their mind to it.

The owner shared her story about taking the exam with me and it was truly inspiring. She sat for the exam and failed all four sections the first time. Then she decided to get serious and purchase a review course and try to study harder for her second attempt. That didn’t work out very well either. She was able to pass FAR, but she still failed the other three sections.

Needless to say, she was pretty discouraged. It was about this time that she found out that she had cancer. Any normal person right about now would spiral into a deep depression and stop all their efforts at passing the exam—not her. She said, “if I’m going to do anything with the rest of my life, I’m going to become a CPA.”

She said the next day she went out and purchased the Wiley testbank and started practicing. The next three months she did nothing but practice multiple-choice questions and watch the lectures. She said that she would have studied longer, but her 18 month window was about to expire and she couldn’t wait any longer to take the other sections before her FAR exam would have expired as well.

Thus, she prepared for the exam and sat for the remaining three sections in the same testing window. If that’s not courage, I don’t know what is. She ending up passing all three sections and became a CPA. A year later after the surgery, she was also healthy.

If that doesn’t inspire, nothing will. Anyone can do it. Get out there and start studying!
